How does GlobeTrotter allocate IP addresses?
GlobeTrotter
uses a DHCP server that allocates an IP address
every time that the client starts its computer. This is applied
as a rule for every connection via an analog modem. A temporary
dynamic IP is allocated whenever you connect to the Internet.
It is allocated for a limited period of time. After this delay period
and if you are still connected to the Internet, (as it is often
the case with a permanent access service such as GTHS), your
computer will negotiate the allocation of a new address. GlobeTrotter
can provide you with a new address or renew the same.
5. Can I obtain a permanent IP
address?
Yes.
Call and ask the GlobeTrotter Invoice Service at 1
800 520-GLOBE (4562). To speed up your request ensure
that you have your MAC address for
your Ethernet board or your USB port.

6.
Can I use GlobeTrotter High Speed service through Ethernet or Socket
standard services provided by certain operating systems such as
OS/2, Unix, Solaris, etc.?
Yes.
So long as your OS can handle TCP / IP and dynamic
(DHCP) IP, there should not be any problem. However, GlobeTrotter
does not offer technical assistance nor guarantee the proper working
order of the service for these types of OS. Although we supply
the necessary information such as server names and IP address,
we will not be able to help you solve your installation or configuration
problems.

8.
Are other services that use the same telephone line affected by
the GlobeTrotter High Speed service application?
Other telephone options are not influenced by GTHS
service. HOWEVER, DEPENDING ON THE TECHNOLOGY
USED, CERTAIN ALARM SYSTEMS may be influenced. If you own
an alarm system, we recommend that you contact your service company
in order to take the necessary precautions to correct the problem
if it exists. This problem can easily be corrected with the use
of a high-performance filter at the main entry of your telephone
line.
9.
Does GlobeTrotter High Speed services affect my other telephone
options (such as call waiting, name or number display)?
No.
ADSL technology of the GTHS service is totally transparent
and does not affect in any way your other telephone options.

10.
How can I use my USB port to connect to GlobeTrotter High Speed
service?
At this
time, only computers running under Windows 98, Windows 98 SE and
Windows 2000 cans use a USB port as they are the only O/S
supported by modem manufacturers.

the flat end of your USB cable to the your computer's
USB port. Plug the other end into the modem connector identified
as such
Once
